The left-wing coalition of the Italian government has bought €1.57 billion worth of supplies from Chinese companies during the Covid-19 pandemic.
From January 31st 2020 to November 17th 2020, they spent €4.73 billion. Much of this was spent on medical supplies, and 36.25 percent of the money went to foreign companies.
91.7 percent of the 1.71 billion euros spent abroad went to Chinese-owned companies.
Leader of the National Conservative Brothers of Italy (FDI) party, Giorgia Meloni, criticized the left-wing of the Italian government for this fact.
Meloni said the numbers are “disturbing” and said that they reveal an “absolute dependence” of the government, led by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
“The misfortune within the misfortune is that while having to face a health, social, and economic emergency, the government was totally subservient to foreign interests,” she said.
She continued, “This is the worst political class in the Italian republic’s history: incapable, visionless, enslaved to foreign interests, and animated only by the desire to have a career and secure their seats.”
Italy, along with many other countries in Europe, relied on Chinese suppliers for medical supplies at the beginning of the pandemic.
According to an April report from The Spectator‘s U.S. edition, China forced Italy to buy Covid-19 supplies that Italy had donated to them just weeks prior.
In October, it was revealed that the British government spent almost 320 million euros on medical supplies, such as masks and ventilators, from companies linked to the Communist Beijing regime.
